The List of New Characters in Toy Story 3

Animation and Disney Pixar fans everywhere absolutely love Toy Story 3, released in June 2010. Toy Story and Toy Story 2 were both superb, and the overall quality of Pixar Animation Studio films are unsurpassed. No wonder we're excited!

The basic plot for Toy Story 3 is that Andy has grown up and is getting ready to go to college. He must part with his toys and so he gives them to Sunnyside Daycare Center. It is at this daycare that all our old friends from the first two Toy Story films meet new characters.

Here is the list of new confirmed characters in Toy Story 3. The name in parenthesis is the voice actor (if applicable).

Dolly: (Bonnie Hunt) Dolly is a cute floppy felt doll who has big round eyes, purple hair and an orange dress with mismatched buttons. We get to see her with Trixie, Woody and Totoro at the computer in the trailer.

Big Baby: This is a giant doll that towers over the other toys at 18 inches tall. Big Baby is your classic baby doll who has a "magical" milk bottle that empties as you feed the doll. This baby's been around the block a few times at Sunnyside Daycare, though. One of the doll's eyes is permanently closed and the pen marks on the body remind me of a tough guy's tattoos. What sort of role is Big Baby set to play in Toy Story 3? Sources say a more major role than we think.

Book Worm: He's a cute nerdy little green worm who wears a bow tie and round glasses. Book Worm holds a flash light for you to read your books at night, after you're supposed to be asleep. Seems like a mild mannered fellow.

Buttercup: (Jeff Garlin) Don't be fooled by this pretty white unicorn with golden horn, mane and tail. Buttercup is really a male!

Chatter Telephone: Based on the real toy, Woody answers Chatter's ring, and the phone says to him, "You and your friends ain't never gettin' outta here." But he actually tries to help Woody and his friends.

Chunk: This is a rock monster-type toy with blue eyes and huge fists. He appears briefly in the Toy Story 3 trailer while Ken, Stretch and others are playing cards.

Jack-in-the-Box: (Director Lee Unkrich) Upon the arrival of Andy's toys, the Jack-in-the-Box exclaims with joy "New toys!" This toy has a pointy blue hat and an orange and red striped springy body.

Ken: (Michael Keaton) He's a man who is fashion conscious. Ken wears a blue short sleeved leopard print shirt with matching shorts and scarf. He instantly falls in love with Barbie, of course, when the two meet.

Lots o' Huggin' Bear: (Ned Beatty) This seems to be the leader of the Sunnyside Daycare toys. He's an oversize stuffed purple bear who smells of strawberries and walks with a cane. He encourages Andy's toys to be played with and seems to welcome them.

Mr. Pricklepants: (Timothy Dalton) A German-made hedge hog complete with traditional lederhosen and hat.

Peas in a Pod: This is an adorable plush toy that unzips to reveal three green happy-faced peas inside.

Peter and Lil: (Lou Romano and Elissa Knight) Two dolls at the Sunnyside Daycare Center who are briefly seen getting a nice massage from Stretch.

Sparks: Sparks is a retro-inspired blue and silver robot with red trim. He rolls around on tread wheels as he spits out sparks and has flashing red LED lights for eyes. Sparks can grab all sorts of things with his extending arms with pincer hands and he can extend his body, too.

Stretch: (Whoopi Goldberg) She's a glittery, stretchy octopus with eight arms lined with suckers. She shakes hands when Andy's toys arrive, and gives massages to a couple of other dolls and playing cards in another scene. But she's clearly on Lotso's side and has no sympathy for Woody and the gang.

Totoro: Famous character from the Studio Ghibili film "My Neighbor Totoro," Totoro makes a cameo appearance as one of Bonnie's toys at her home in Toy Story 3.

Trixie: (Kristen Schaal) Trixie is a blue triceratops dinosaur toy who likes to chat on the Internet. She's a bit embarrassed when Woody discovers her online conversation and she says it's just another dinosaur down the street. Maybe she's a love interest for Rex?

Twitch: (Jeff Garlin) He's part man, part insect. Twitch is a tall wrestler/warrior type of action figure, who is green, muscular, and carries a large club-like staff. Mrs. Potato Head is impressed with his physique as she rubs his arm.

Now that you know these new characters, you will have an even better time watching Toy Story 3 especially since you can see it anytime with the release of the BluRay and DVD.

Toy Story 3 Woody Character Guide

If you're into The Walt Disney's Toy Story 3 animated film as much as I am then you know that the hero of all these movies is Andy's Best toy doll Woody. Woody of course is the beloved pull string Cowboy sheriff doll that was one of Andy's very first toys. He's been around longer than Buzz Lightyear and he's considered the leader of Andy's Room, usually sitting on top of Andy's headboard. Let to share with you some insights I have about the woody character and hopefully some interesting facts you may not have known before.

As soon as you see Sheriff Woody on screen you also get to hear him talk. And that voice is none other than the talented Actor Tom Hanks. Tom is a very accomplished actor and no actor I know of is better suited to play the voice of Sheriff Woody than he. Hist tone, pitch, tempo, voice inflections and so forth really bring the animated cells (or rather the computer animation) to Life. It takes some real talent on Mr. Hanks part to add such realistic human dimension to Woody in this flick. Woody is a passionate Guy and Tom is passionate too. That's why Tom and Woody are a perfect match

Being a western American cowboy is perhaps one of the most recognized Hollywood characters ever throughout the world. More people worldwide love American Western movies than any other type of American Movie. So when Disney and Pixar decided that the lead character of Toy Story was to be a cowboy doll, they were really thinking. As a kid growing up in the Midwest I think myself and EVERY boy in my neighborhood played the roll of cowboy. When I saw the first Toy Story movie I think that virtually every male in that theatre related instantly to the Woody character. It's story planning like this that makes Disney movies so popular.

The character name of Woody was actually named in honor of the late actor Woody Strode, who was a cowboy actor that co-starred in many of the famous John Wayne Western Movies. His real name is Woodrow Wilson Woolwine Strode. He played Pompey in one of my favorite John Ford Weterns "The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance"
